President Obama inches closer to his self imposed goal of passing comprehensive health care reform by early fall. This week House Democrats presented their version for reform and on Wednesday a key Senate Committee passed a bill of their own. However as the first hurdles are cleared, legislative gridlock seems inevitable, as both Republican and Democratic Senators begin to raise concerns about the costs of the plans and the effects reform will have on coverage. We’ll get specifics on what the final government plan will look like when we’re joined by one of the White House’s leading voices on health care and one of the Senate’s budget hawks fighting to put the brakes on the President and Congressional Democrats.
Segment 1 Guest: Peter Orszag, Director, White House Office of Management and Budget
Back to Back
Sen. Judd Gregg, (R) New Hampshire / Ranking Member, Budget Cmte.
This week marks the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Space Mission and Chris Wallace sits down with one of the men who made the historic journey. What was it like to walk on the moon? And what effect did the trip have on American life? We’ll take a look back at the birth of the space program, the moon landing, and NASA’s future when we’re joined by Buzz Aldrin.
Segment 2 Guest: Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 Astronaut
Plus our panel:
Bill Kristol – Weekly Standard & Fox News
Mara Liasson – National Public Radio & Fox News
Charles Krauthammer – Syndicated Columnist & Fox News
Juan Williams – National Public Radio & Fox News
And a Classic Power Player takes us behind the scenes at the White House.
Classic Power Player: Pete Souza, Chief White House Photographer
How did it feel to have Peter Orszag sit there and lie to your face? I continue to wait for someone to call their hand about it being illegal to add your spouse to your private policy (Page 16), or to buy private insurance after the implementation of the bill. If you lose your private insurance carrier, you will HAVE to get the public plan. So much for keeping your private insurance!
You should also include what the panel is going to be talking about.
I just go done watching the show, and during Panel Plus they talked about a retired news ancher who I never heard of, he was before my time, but how they all talked about him made me more interested. The problem is that I can't find his name anywhere! Would have been nice if the topics were listed, then his name would be listed there as well...
Chris, why do you give Juan Williams so much time on the panel? It seems that FOX is using him more and more and, frankly, I am not interested in what he has to say - especially when I could be listening to Charles Krauthammer and Bill Kristol.
1. I have heard no discussion of the need to control the financial impact of medical liability insurance on the cost of medical care. It is a significant expense that adds nothing to the quality of care or medical outcome. Why is this not a part of the debate?
2. I think a precondition to any health insurance plan be that it applies to the House and Senate members (and families) in exactly the same way it applies to the populace. No exceptions! Whats good enough for us should be good enough for them. If the politicians realized that they had to have the same plan as the people, I believe it would alter their perspective.
JUst a comment about the way the "Roundtable" works every week.
I understand why the physical table is not round, I am sure the oblong table works better for your TV studio. But why is there a head of the table conservative (Hume/Krystol) then the female spot(Mara) then the sub conservative then the liberal. If it were really a round table, next week everyone would move over a seat and Juan would get to go first, the Bill, then Mara, then Charles. The week after that you could have Charles, then Juan ...
I am a big fan of Fox News. I am very conservative. My comments are in the interest of being truly fair and balances. Why does conservatism always go first? Why can't the conservatives get to answer the crazy democratic talking points that Juan is going to bring up?
the only way to reduce health care is to set limits on malpractice. This was tried by President Bush through Tort Reform and due to Democratic loyality to the Trial Lawyers Assn it failed. The rest is smoke and mirrors...
The big question is why the rush? If Dems were interested in what is best for America why not give Americans an opportunity to discover what they are proposing. Why shove down our throats. I think we all know the answer.
A RECENT ARTICLE IN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL RAISES SOME SERIOUS QUESTIONS HAS TO HOW THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS IS BEING MANAGED BY THE CURRENT POTUS
"President Barack Obama urged lawmakers Friday to stay focused, warning that "now is not the time to slow down."
WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE DONE SO QUICKLY?
"Thursday deadline imposed by Mr. Obama to reach a bipartisan deal on a bill."
AGAIN, WHY ARE DEADLINES BEING IMPOSED? HOW CAN A PRESIDENT IMPOSE LEGISLATION BE BI-PARTISAN?
“Mr. Baucus isn't considering a major new tax of the sort being pushed in the House. That's prompting a chorus of House Democrats to call for their leadership to wait and see what Mr. Baucus produces before forcing rank-and-file lawmakers to take a career-defining vote on whether to levy a hefty new surtax on wealthy households.”
CAN RANK AND FILE DEMS BE FORCED TO VOTE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER? WHO FORCES A CONGRESSMAN TO VOTE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER? I THOUGHT A MEMBER OF CONGRESS REPRESENTED CITIZENS OF A STATES DISTRICT AND THEY WERE THE ONES WHO INFLUENCED HIS VOTE
Why is health reform needed?
Most people are happy with their current insurance. The promise is that reform will bring lower rates. However, there is now evidence this will actually occur and with the increase tax burden, the cost savings will disappear. When will hard evidence be produced to show individual cost will go down.
How will prevention work. Will people be faced with increased premiums if they do not conform to government mandated guidelines? What about the people subsidized by the government. Obviously increased rates don't matter to them, so what incentive do they have?
How will mandatory insurance work? Currently, auto insurance is mandatory and I still pay for uninsured motorist coverage. What make health insurance enforceable.
I think this is being rushed through because it is smoke and mirrors.

For the last week there have been military exercises with the B-2 bomber over my house. I call it the triangle plane and my husband calls it the Stealth bomber. They happen only at night usually until 11:00 to 11:30 at night. Not that that is a problem, but I use to live not far from a Fort Lewis exercise area and I know that when an exercise is kicked up it means that something in the works for use of that machinery.
I asked my brother what is this plane's feature that makes it a good military plane? He told me that it can fly under radar detection.
I thought where could it be used at this venture in time? The only use I could come up with for this plane was N. Korea.
My brother did some searching on the web and the only thing he could find out is that there was some Gossip on the web stating that this planes technology is destined to be sold to China in order to reduce the United States debt.
My question is can they do that with no one's in put or knowledge?
I am writing because I know Washington state is all Democrats and that the military would not notify you what is going on and
I am not only wary of this democratic reign but also paranoid of them. Nor do I think anything is not capable to happen by this group of thieves.
In addition, Gary Locke the previous democrat governor of Washington state is now in the White house. He is Chinese and took many junkets to China while he was governor.
I love my country and hope my paranoia is not founded
Obama's science czar is a eugenics proponent. I can only imagine how evil this health care will end up being.

Are members of Congress covered by the proposed healthcare legislation or do they exempt themselves?
Ed Ross
Apparently Juan wasn't listening to Senator Gregg when he claimed that Republicans were AWOL on healthcare.
