This Week on Fox News Sunday: (8/9/09)

Violent attacks ramp up as Afghanistan prepares for an important national election and US Forces score a major victory by taking out the Taliban’s top leader.  One of President Obama’s first acts as Commander in Chief was to send additional troops into Afghanistan to more effectively fight elements of the Taliban and Al Qaeda.  So has the new strategy proven to be a success?  The answer remains to be seen, but by most indications a new report from the top US Commander in Afghanistan will call for even more troops on the ground.  We’ll get a status report on the future US involvement in Afghanistan when Chris Wallace is joined by President Obama’s National Security Adviser.

Segment 1 Guest:  Gen. Jim Jones, National Security Adviser

Health Care Reform remains stalled in the Senate, as the Senate Finance Committee tries to find a compromise for the members of both parties.  We’ll get the latest on the health care debate, discuss what members can expect when they return home for their August recess, and look ahead to some of the big issues the Senate will look to tackle this fall.  Chris sits down with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, only on Fox News Sunday.

Segment 2 Guest: Sen. Mitch McConnell, (R) Kentucky / Senate Minority Leader

    Plus our panel:
Paul Gigot – Wall Street Journal & Fox News
Mara Liasson – National Public Radio & Fox News
Stephen Hayes – Weekly Standard & Fox News
Ceci Connolly – The Washington Post

And a Classic Power Player does everything she can to help the US’s wounded warriors.

Classic Power Player:  Maj. Gen. Carla Hawley-Bowland,
Commander, Walter Reed Army Medical Center

I would like to ask who is going to tie Nancy Pelosi's hands behind her back along with Obama, Michelle, Harry Reid, and many other Dems. to keep them from sneaking in things in the Healthcare Bill that will not suppose to be in there. Someone needs to keep check on this as I know of NO ONE THAT TRUST ANY OF THEM>

I can't believe you were gushing along with Obama over the o.2 drop in unemployment as a sign of economic recovery. 2 million plus lost jobs in the first half of the year, 270,000 in July. I didn't hear anything about 670,000 people returning to work! Do the math 2 million x 0.2 is 400,000 + 270,000 = 0.2 drop

Please dump Steven Hayes off the panel. He does not represent the conservative voice. He kept looking at Cici to ask, "How 'my doin'?"I kept watching Paul Gigot looking at him and I can only speculate that he was thinking "What the hell are you talking about?" Where are Brit and Dr. Charles?

Senator McConnell's describing rude and disruptive behavior in town meetings as energetic is sad. Would he feel the same way if he were treated that way at his meeting? It was a weak and political response not worthy of a leader.

Hiw refreshing. Gen. James L. Jones Jr. answered all the questions straight forward. The questions were not super tough but regardless it was agood interview.

Fox News is letting their panelists perpetuate the left's lies about "health reform". There are not 47 million uninsured Americans who want insurance. We have the greatest health care system man has ever known, so speaking about the urgency of 'fixing it' is disingenuous. Modest tweaks in the 'system' would be helpful, but what we have is the left making a massive power grab. Please don't roll over to the talking points of the left ("47 million uninsured", "broken system", etc)!

TOWN HALL MEETINGS: Mitch McConnell's oleaginous smirk at the way Republicans have disrupted town hall meetings, shut down debate and prevented people from being heard, reveals how he thinks it is in his best interest. He is mistaken. Whatever it accomplishes in the short term to thwart health care reform, it will further marginalize the Republican party. Ten years from now, the Party will consist solely of superstitious southerners with 8th grade reading levels.

Chris you need to see how democrats are stacking the room and trying to keep people out of the debate. This is from Kathy Castors Town Hall Tampa Florida.

Mitch McConnel is representative of a Republican party void of ideas. He shows no enthusiasm, thought or energy, toward resolving health care.

your interview with The Natuional Security ASdvisor was very lame. You didn't ask tough questions and he danced around every issue! Why

With all the talk about going green why are more states not imposing the deposit on soda/pop/beer cans and bottles. This would help with going green and make more jobs for the employees who take care of the recycling at the stores. Yes, many individules do recycle aluminum cans. But with a deposit the plastic containers would also be recycled.
