What are the facts on health care reform? President Obama, the House, and the Senate all have their plan for reforming the health care system. This week Chris Wallace will address the key aspects of each plan and try to find out the impact health care reform will have on the lives of ordinary Americans. Will any of the Democratic plans lead to a government takeover of health care, will reform add to the deficit, are cuts to Medicare inevitable, and what about the possibility for taxpayer funded abortions? We’ll get “just the facts” when we’re joined by two key lawmakers at the center of the debate. Plus, we’ll welcome leaders from two of the country’s most influential interest groups.
Segment 1 Guests: Sen. Kent Conrad, (D) North Dakota / Chairman, Budget Committee
Sen. Richard Shelby, (R) Alabama/Ranking Member, Banking Committee
J. James Rohack, M.D., President of the American Medical Association
John Rother, Executive Vice President for Policy and Strategy at AARP
Plus our panel:
Bill Sammon – Fox News Washington Managing Editor
A.B. Stoddard – The Hill
Charles Krauthammer – Syndicated Columnist & Fox News
Ceci Connolly – The Washington Post
And a Classic Power Player lends her voice for some of the country’s most important moments.
Now is the time for Americans to stand up and demand comprehensive reforms of Congress (EVERYONE) and the Presidency.
The future of America is at stake!
My thoughts on Michael Vick are that if he had not been caught, he would probably still be participating in the abuse of the dogs. It is easy to say your sorry when you have been busted! Also, the Eagles would be better w/o Vick on their team.....Super Bowl or not. I feel he should not be allowed to play in professional sports anymore. The kind of money the professional athletes make should make them accountable. Find another profession Vick! Maybe doggie park clean up!
Why does Fox show the spokesman for the AMA saying that they are for Obama's health plan and not state the fact that the AMA only has 27-29 percent of US doctors in their membership.
They hardly speak for all doctors. It is a little disengenuous not to give the whole story.
All Goverment employees have the same health insurance choices, including congress. And yes it is good health insurance.
Its funny, people are worried about the Gov. rationing health care, when the private health insurance companies already do that. With a Gov. plan it might be expensive, but at the very least the Gov. doesn't have to worry about a bottom line and then cutting you off if your healthcare gets too expensive.
I would like Fox News to show old video of the "stories" we were told about Medicare when it was first proposed. What it would cost, what it would save, the level of care, how well the Govt. would administer it, etc. HO HO HO! They got it all wrong & Obamacare will be worse & further off. Are we all fools to believe any of this nonsense & the lying socialist-leaning Dems??
Chris, the AMA and the AARP have made side deals with the Obama administration in exchange for their support of Obamacare. You should have questioned Dr. Rohack and Mr. Rother about these arraignments rather than treating them as if they were objective judges of the facts. I believe that viewers who were unaware of these conflicts of interest were misled by their answers.
It sems to me the answer to the health care question could be simplified if the congress ,all federal, all unions, all military and all teachers , all professional people were required to go by the same rules. If congress would write that one i believe the people would accept it.This would eliminate the cherry pickers
Chris, I am perplexed! When you asked the very poignant question about removing state regulations for people to purchase insurance across state lines, you let your guest get away with, " it wouldn't work in that it would make insurance premiums go up for people living in the less costly state". That is a ludicrous statement! If there is more competition, costs would go down! Please follow up...
I'm a dog lover and a fan of neither the Philadelphia Eagles nor Michael Vick, but would we be having this discussion if Vick was a much lower paid offensive guard? It seems to me the discussion is caused more by the position he plays than whether he should be allowed to return to his profession.
I happen to be one American who would like to see a medicare for all option for those under 65 as a competitor to private insurance. I would like to see someone in the media have the courage to present a panel that presents the truth about health care in Europe and CA---not the hype we get but a "fair and balanced" presentation. I am committing all of my effort to opposing Obamacare because it is a mess; it is a sell out to insurance companies and big pharma. Kill it.
MIchael Vick has certainly been tried and convicted by society. Yet this is the same society that allows the killing of animals on an industrial scale and legally condoms the brutal fighting of individuals in the ring based on sport. I am not condoning Vick's behavior and abhor the hurting of humans or animals. My point is simply to ask the public to reconsider behaviors that support violence and cruelty to animals or humans.
Before we even think about pursuing more changes affecting our great nation we must tackle the main problem. That is the impeachment of this juvenile like, dictator wannabe impersonator of a President we have in office. Then everything will return to what made us the greatest nation on earth, bowing to no one, helping everyone. How many reasons has this guy given us to start the impeachment? To many to count. Impeach first, then back to regular business. T.Shab, Crook County, Illinois
Please ask this question of any member of Congress. Will you vote to require members of Congress to be included on ANY bill dealing with health care? Just yes or no please!!
My guess is the answer will not be yes, but if it were just watch the bill change dramatically!! If they were all included in Social Security and not a lifetime salarat retirement Social Security would not be in the fix it is in.
America is getting fed up with bills being rammed through without being read. Are we not taught to read what we are signing? If these bills are written by lawyers/for lawyers than maybe those that aren't lawyers won't be able to read what is in the fine print. Does that really show wisdom on the part of any lawmaker to not read a bill and then find out what was in the fine print (after it has been passed)????? Not!!!!!
I watched your roundtable discussion today about Michael Vick and the decision to allow him to play again in the NFL, a decision I don't agree with. As a veterinarian, I have tended to my fair share of these "fighting pits" that were commandeered by humane officers. I am glad to say that the number of fighting dogs I have had to euthanize because they were so psychologically damaged has been few. Mr. Vick isn't the least bit sorry for what he did, he's just sorry he got caught.
Heinous as Michael Vick’s crime may have been, the entire panel demonstrates its naiveté by questioning the legitimacy of any future association with the Humane Society. The Humane Society (of the United States) “dog fighting Czar” is none other than John (J.B.) Goodwin, a convicted domestic (ALF) terrorist (arson). You folks (should) know this! Fair and balanced people…
How can anything from experts on television be believable? Dr. Rohack's comment that diabetes is preventable is a reprehensible comment. My husband and I have diabetes. We are not overweight and eat healthy meals. Our doctors at a prestigious hospital in Boston have told us there is nothing we could have done to prevent this disease. Our parents had diabetes.
Does the AARP believe people are stupid? Competition drives prices down and would not increase insurance costs in low-cost areas.
The AMA does not represent me or any doctor I know. In fact, they represent less than 30% of us and only back Obamacare to preserve their gravytrain of money due to the licensure of CPT codes. Most doctors I know are absolutely not in favor of Obamacare as it will lead to government rationing. By the way, anybody else wonder why we aren't talking about a cheap improvement...how about tort reform?

Chris You should have seated CC next to AB Stoddard, so you could have introduced the 4 of them as: Bill, AB, CC and Charles.

Nice to see Chris Wallace as MODERATOR again - no Juan Williams directing the discussions!
