Fox News Sunday in the News

White House officials to appear on Fox News

    The Washington Post - October 19, 2009

The back-and-forth played out on political talk shows Sunday, with others in the president's inner circle criticizing Fox, which is home to several staunch Obama critics -- including Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck, who has called the president a racist. Beck also has pushed against administration hires. Most notably, the commentator used his show to campaign for the ouster of Van Jones, a White House environmental adviser who had been criticized for past statements and associations. Jones was then forced to resign.

Without citing specific complaints against Fox, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said on CNN's "State of the Union" that the way "the president looks at it and we look at it is it is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective."

Karl Rove, a Fox News contributor who advised President George W. Bush, said Obama's aides have tried to "demonize" Fox and compared their approach to that of President Richard M. Nixon.

"This is a White House engaging in its own version of the media enemies list," Rove said on "Fox News Sunday." "It's unhelpful for the country and undignified for the president of the United States."

Obama eschewed "Fox News Sunday" when he appeared on five Sunday-morning news shows last month. Again this week, he sent aides to discuss the war in Afghanistan, the economy and the overhaul of the nation's health-care system on ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC. Fox was left out.

Still, senior Obama adviser David Axelrod said on ABC's "This Week" that administration officials are willing to appear on the network in the future.

Fox's Clemente said, "The door remains open, and we welcome a discussion about the facts behind the issues."

Democrats urge patience on troop decision; Say valid government needed first

    The Washington Times - October 19, 2009

Republican leaders have continued to pressure the administration for an answer, supporting Gen. McChrystal's recommendations for a troop surge and saying that the decision shouldn't wait for the outcome of the Afghan elections.

"I think the fundamental issue with that decision .. is America's national security interest I think we're going to be dealing with some government in Afghanistan under any circumstance," said Sen. John Thune, a Republican member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on "Fox News Sunday."

GOP will try to steer key groups against health plan

    The Washington Times - October 19, 2009

Sen. Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania Republican-turned-Democrat, took aim at his former party on "Fox News Sunday," calling it "a party of obstructionism."

"You have responsible Republicans who had been in the Senate, like Howard Baker and Bob Dole and Bill Frist, who say Republicans ought to cooperate," Mr. Specter said. "Well, they're not cooperating."

Mr. Wallace, surely you can find a Democrat to be on your show that is more intelligent and less irritating than Juan Williams.

Hey Rush and Fox Staff, why are you people ignoring the Michael Savage situation (re. being banned from Britain)? I just can't believe you don't see this as a "newsworthy" topic. If they can take Savage down, you might just be next.

Can anyone tell me why President Obama refuses to hold any OPEN PRESS CONFERENCES where all journalists get to ask this administration any direct, probing questions? This "controling the Media is BS!!!!! We are the PEOLPLE they WORK for and that gives the RIGHT for answers and accountability. What is this country coming to? Obama, your time is coming!

This country has hit a new low when the president needs to control the media.

For Chris Wallace: And another subject I won't quit on. Corporations, businesses, enterprises of all types, do not pay taxes. Huh? Thimk! From where taxes? Profits. From where profits? Sales. From where sales? You. And this should make you really warm and cuddly. You now get to pay sales tax on the corporate, and embedded taxes, you just paid. And the government appreciates your generosity very much. Think about it.

Attention readers! The socialists are on the attack. Thad and Hairy can only begin their responses with filth and neither are able to converse intelligently without the aid of this crutch. Speaks highly for their education or lack thereof. Thad signed his reponse "Old Queer". Isnt that a great debate strategy? But then, they're all like that. No conversation, Only hate and shut down the other side - from their Dear Leader down to Thad and Hairy. Good going guys!

Agreed, David spanks it to Fox like a good old 17 IQ viewer that is their mainstream audience. David I would tell you to get a life but then you would have to leave your home and beloved Fix Noise.

To Chris Wallace:Possible Sunday News subjects 1. What Constitutional power allows the Federal government to function in health care? 2. Global warming; since we are near, but not quite, the coldest period in recent earth's history, what's the problem? 3. Climate change? Climate has always changed. Stop it and we have a dead planet. 4. Pollution we have. Ours is minor, Europe not so, Asia is a basket case. To clean it up we need surplus wealth. Taxing us to oblivion destroys wealth.

I have always appreciated Bill Kristol's level-headed, pointed remarks but I LOVE that he called the Administration's efforts in Afghanistan HALF-ASSED. Who knew he was so fiesty? You go, Mr. Kristol!!!

Chris, why is Fox News so concerned about the President& his cabinet members not appearing on any of the Fox News programs? Your head honcho, Rufus Murdock has said so what we don't need them(To paraphrase). Further, you are seeking specific incidents from the President where Fox News has not just reported the news. It is obvious, your news department does not critique itself. Your news deptment & talking heads has a history spitting out halve truths, innuendos & sometime racy catch phases.

Rahm Emanuel thinks Fox has a "perspective". I wonder what he feels about ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and PBS? By the way, you are forced to support PBS with your taxes. Feel warm an cuddly?

It was clear in summer 2008 that OBama was willing to use covert tactics to win. He did w/Hillary & Joe the Plummer & now FNC. I was very upset that a man running for POTUS would need to destroy a private citizen but they did it. This scared me. It continues! I do prefer conservative views but FNC doesn't always give me what I want to hear;FNS & Special Report challenge me to see the other side of the issue. Why can't he focus on what he can control not what he can't: feelings, greed & opinion

Rahm Emanuel said that the way "the president looks at it and we look at it is it is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective."..... The way most Americans look at it, Obama is not so much a President as he is a CON MAN that LIED his way into the Oval Office. Axelrod (Snidely Whiplash) and Emanuel (Meyer Lansky) are crooked,Chicago political machine running phonies who are pulling the strings of this weak, naive, empty suit of a puppet in office.........

Chris, if your network is really fair and balanced as it often claims, rather than being a mouthpiece of the Republican Party as many people believe,I would like you, among other things, to take note of the following: Based on many statements, inspite of his claim on Sunday that he does nof support Rush Limbaugh concete evidence reflect differently. He is a darling of the conservatives. They invite him to their shows all the time. They listen to him sing their praises like a bird.
