    Election Preview: VA, NJ, NY

The center of the political universe this Tuesday will be Governor's races in Virginia and New Jersey and a special congressional election in New York.

Democrats in Virginia hoped the surge of new voters delivered by Barack Obama in his presidential election last year signaled a new era of party dominance.

But recent polls suggest Virginians are uninspired by Democrat Creigh Deeds.  Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell enters the final weekend before Tuesday's election having opened a solid lead.  In the latest Real Clear Politics average McDonnell leads with 54.6% support to 40.3% for Deeds.

New Jersey’s unpredictable governor’s race is in a dead heat with Governor Jon Corzine ahead in some polls and Republican challenger Chris Christie in others.  Although many voters say they still may change their minds.  Third-party candidate, Chris Daggett, is far behind but could help tip the race in either direction.

In both Virginia and New Jersey, Republicans have pushed aggressively to tie the Democratic candidate to President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress.  The Republican Governor's Association spent about $13 million on TV ads in the two states.

On Sunday, President Obama will campaign in Newark for New Jersey Governor Corzine.  One day later, Vice President Biden will also hit the campaign trail with Democrat Bill Owens in the upstate New York special election.

Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava announced Saturday that she is suspending her campaign for the 23rd Congressional District and releasing her supporters to vote for the Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

On FOX News Sunday, Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron and Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett will have more on where each contest stands and what these races mean to President Obama.

Ithink The Dems will get exactly what they deserve on election day and so will Obama for not listening to the tea Party goers. He made fun of them and now it is time for payback for not caring about us AMERICANS, The GOP will win all the seats.

Ditto Ditto to all the above comments I pray that the independent in NJ will love our country enough to drop out like Scozzafava did in NY Splitting the vote gives in to Corsine. We have to win .

I realized the reason that Obama has campaigned for Corzine in New Jersey three times now is that Corzine used to be part of Golman Sachs. They say jump, and Obama says how high (He is the biggest benefactor of Goldman's largesse.)

let us all pray that the N J voters get their act together and for once and all end all the corruptions that has plague that state for so many years. If they don't I do not want to hear one word from any of the N J people ever again AMEN

There is an election in CA not drawing much attention. The 10th Congressional District, formerly represented by Ellen Tauscher, who is now a part of the Obama administration, is electing a new US Representative. Garamendi (D) is running against an unknown, Harmer (R). In a very Democratic area, Harmer is running even with Garamendi!! Amazing!! yeah!!!

The race to watch is NJ.If Christie wins all hell will break loose because this is such a democratic state; even if Christie comes close, the democratic machine will be very afraid of what will come as govmt tries to take over every aspect of our lives. People are fed up, esp. in NJ. There is so much corruption here, we should limit terms so it takes a while before a politician becomes entrenched and untouchable. I thought Corzine (businessman) was going to help;another useless idiot in politics

i think there's a simple solution to the mass exodus from the Repub party: stop being linguini-spined, stick-to-nothing, morph into anything for the masses and actually STAND for something. Don't compromise, don't give in, give America something to agree with and vote FOR.

If you want to see where the Country is going to end up with this administration, just take a look at California. This is what is coming to your neighborhood. All of those gimme programs are draining the California economy. "Obama the Lip" just keeps giving us lip service and talking about how many jobs he saved. Notice he is not talking about how many jobs he created.

A stunning development that was completely ignored in this morning's program was that a week after Gov. Sarah Palin announced her support for Doug Hoffman in the NY23 race, the hand-picked Republican candidate dropped out and all of the major Republican figures were scrambling and backpedalling to switch their previous endorsements and get on the bandwagon. This is an indication of a seismic shift in power and influence that the established politicians in both parties need to take to heart.

Regarding your Poll I voted that BO exceeded my expectations. He and his Reichsleiter's have managed to trash this country faster than I figured they could. Of Course following the Chicago Mob's model helped a who hell of a lot.

1. The more moderate Republicans and Conservative united to represent the majority of the voters in New York-23. 2. In Virginia the Republicans have a major lead. 3. In Blue state, New Jersey the Democrats can only win because the majority of the voters are split. And the Democrats keep talking about the Republican being split. The Independents and Republicans working together. Fiscal issues will be the primary overall national concern. Social issues will be handled locally.

Let's face it. The best campaigner for Barrack Obama in last years Presidential Election was George W. Bush. I don't believe that the Country will smile on Obama this coming mid-term election. He stated, "Students will have to spend more time in the classrooms." This is an unfunded mandate that will be burdened by every state. Translation, more money needed to fund teachers, bus drivers, more cafeteria food and diesel fuel to pollute even more, which is contrary to his cap and trade policy.

Yet another response from a socialist in an effort to still a dissenting voice. Again, within 5 words he (unsigned) began spouting filth and epithets. We truly are a "We/They" country where "they" are so steeped in party hatred and accepting of lies that "they" are unable to conceive the possibility of corrupt "leadership". "They" proceed, cattle-like, in lockstep jeering and demeaning anyone who does not believe in "their" messiah". I fear destruction in near.

Tuesday will be a very good day for the GOP and the country. Personally I believe that President Obama is not a Socialist or a Communist. Rather Obama and his clic are very thin skinned buffoons. He knows how to win elections but is easily rolled by the "progressive liberals" of the Democratic left and can't make a decision. Fortunately for the GOP he is no Clinton. I find much of his administration to be laughable. They are spoiled children. Always blaming others when they are caught.

Whilst these races have no bearing on our suffering in Ca. their outcomes could very well sound a death knell to the communist conspiracy that has begun smothering our government and country. We can only hope. But with creatures of the ilk of Acorn and spineless conservatives making every effort to smother any dissent how can one expect anything other than cheers and jeers once again by the Marxist collective?
